Why bother with event photography? Can you get any ‘value’ out of your event photos?
Corporate events can be expensive to host - there's the caterers, the venue fee, the AV costs, not to mention the cost of having the office 'shut down' for the duration of your event. So, why add the extra expense of a professional photographer?
Why - well, because event photography can actually bring a return on investment ....and here's how:
How can you use your event photos in the short term to raise awareness of your business or your event:
- Ask your photographer to provide a 'highlights' gallery within 12 hours of your event for you to use on social media
- Send photos to the press office of any relevant trade press
- If you have a celebrity/well known industry figure at your event - tag them in any social media posts to gain additional exposure
- Share the link of your event photos in follow up correspondence with all delegates and guests. Encourage them to share on social media
How can you use your event photos in the longer term to raise awareness of your business or your event:
- Use your event photography in any promotional material you may be creating for your next conference/exhibition/party/product launch
- Publish photo highlights on your company website - promoting the company culture and it’s people
- In the company annual report
- Photos can be used in PR campaigns/media features
- In print/online ads
- Print photo collages/posters for in and around the office social areas - they always make a great talking point!
So - next time you are hosting a corporate event, consider a longer term view of the cost of having event photography - you may well find that it provides you with a very useful library of photos from which you can gain marketing value for your business across many different channels including your website, social media, industry trade bodies, local PR and blogs/articles.
