Do you really need a professional photographer at your next corporate event?
Professional Event Photography Reading | Professional Event Photographer

With the final few months of 2026 upon us, many businesses are busy planning their autumn conferences, end-of-year events and January kick-off meetings.
Venues are booked, speakers are confirmed and invitations are going out. But what about the photography?
With everyone carrying a decent camera in their pocket these days, is it really worth booking a professional photographer for your event?
Having photographed corporate events for over 17 years, I would argue that it is. And not just because I happen to be one!
But there's more to event photography than taking a few pictures.....

Mobile phones are brilliant for capturing the odd moment, and there's absolutely a place for those informal shots. But photographing a corporate event properly is about more than pointing a camera at what's happening.
It's about anticipating moments before they happen, knowing where to position yourself and working with challenging lighting conditions, particularly in conference venues where speakers are often standing on dimly lit stages.
And importantly, it's about capturing the whole event, not just the people on stage.
Some of my favourite event photographs are taken between the formal proceedings. The conversations between delegates, a lively discussion during a workshop or colleagues catching up over coffee.
These are often the images that really bring an event to life and give potential attendees a much better sense of what they can expect.

Your event lasts a day. Your photographs can work much harder
One of the things I always encourage clients to consider is how they might use their photographs afterwards.
A good collection of professional event images can provide content for months, rather than simply being shared on LinkedIn the following morning.
They can be used to:
- Promote future conferences and events
- Share highlights across LinkedIn and other social media
- Update your website and company newsletters
- Support recruitment and employer branding
- Showcase your company culture and the people behind your business

Think about an exhibition, for example. Photographs of people interacting with exhibitors, asking questions or exploring products can be just as valuable for future marketing as a photograph of the keynote speaker.
And when next year's event comes around, you'll already have a collection of images that show potential delegates exactly what they can expect.
If you're organising a corporate event, it's worth thinking about photography while you're planning everything else.
Consider which images will be most useful afterwards, whether that's speakers, networking, branding, team photographs or simply capturing the atmosphere.
From keynote speakers to conversations over coffee, it's often the combination of all these moments that tells the full story of an event.
So, if you've got a conference, company event or January kick-off meeting in the diary, perhaps now's the time to think about who's going to photograph it.
If you'd like to have a chat about photography for an upcoming event, do get in touch.
