Property photography isn't just for estate agents - how to get more value from your property images
Property photography Berkshire | Property photography for businesses

When people think about property photography, they often think of estate agents, property listings and houses going on the market.
Of course, professional photography is incredibly useful when a property is being sold or let. But that is only one part of the story.
I often work with clients who are involved in creating, improving or transforming spaces. Architects, interior designers, carpenters, joiners, builders, developers and other property professionals all need good property photography to showcase their work clearly and professionally.
For these clients, the photographs are not simply about showing a property. They are about showcasing the skill, detail, craftsmanship and quality of the finished project. A beautifully designed kitchen, a carefully restored period property, a bespoke staircase, a new extension or a finished interiors project can say so much about the standard of your work.
But once a project is finished, there is often only a short window of opportunity to photograph it properly. The space may soon be lived in, used differently or changed by the client. So it is worth capturing it while everything is looking its best.
Below are a few tips on how to get the most of your property photography and also how to plan a photo shoot.

Getting more value from your property images
One of the biggest benefits of professional property photography is how many different ways the images can be used. A single shoot can provide images for:
- your website
- social media posts
- brochures
- case studies
- award entries
- press features
- newsletters
- Google Business Profile
- tender documents
For many businesses, having a strong bank of project images makes marketing much easier. Instead of wondering what to post or how to explain what you do, you have real examples of your work ready to share.
Good images can help show:
- the quality of your work
- the type of projects you take on
- the details and finishes that matter
- the scale of the project
- your style and approach
- the level of care that goes into the finished result
They can also help you attract more of the work you actually want to be known for. But how do you go about planning a property photo shoot? Here are some tips:

Planning a property photography shoot
Before any property shoot, it is worth thinking about how the images will be used. A few useful questions to ask are:
- Do you need photographs for a website case study?
- Are you hoping to submit the project for an award?
- Do you need content for social media?
- Would detail shots be useful?
- Are there any particular features, finishes or problem-solving elements that need to be shown?
- Do you need a mix of portrait and landscape images for different platforms?
The more clearly we understand the purpose of the photographs, the more useful the final gallery will be.
It is also worth preparing the space carefully. This does not mean making it look artificial or over-styled, but small details do make a difference.
These may sound obvious, but before the session, it can help to:
- clear surfaces
- straighten cushions
- clean windows and mirrors
- tidy cables
- remove bins and excess clutter
- think about any flowers, books or accessories that might help the space feel finished
These small details help the space look calm, considered and ready to photograph
To sum up, if you are an architect, interior designer, carpenter, joiner, builder, developer or property professional, professional property photography can give you a useful set of images that work hard across your marketing.
I am based in Berkshire and regularly photograph properties, interiors and business spaces across Reading, Henley, Oxfordshire, London and the South East.
